Rangers expert has ‘big worry’ after Connor Goldson latest
The defence is a “big worry” for Rangers ahead of their season opener on Saturday (5 August).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said Connor Goldson has been a “huge miss” at the back and is hopeful lingering defensive issues can be sorted out before the league gets underway.
The 30-year-old was pictured back training with the Gers on Tuesday (1 August) in their open training session at Ibrox.
Goldson has been sidelined with a knee injury since the back end of the season but has been progressing well in his rehabilitation.
The centre-back has not featured for Michael Beale’s side in their pre-season fixtures.
The Light Blues conceded eight goals across four pre-season matches last month.
When asked if he is worried about the defence ahead of the Gers’ opening game against Kilmarnock at the weekend, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think there is some issues that need ironed out but this is obviously what pre-season is there for.
“He will know what he has to work on and he will just be looking forward to getting the season underway.
“I think this week will be a little bit different. I think in terms of the length of training sessions and stuff, it ramps down a little bit.

“I think the defence is the biggest worry to come out of the pre-season games. It is something the manager will want to work on.
“Goldson has been a huge miss there is no getting away from that. There is obviously a little problem there but it is something they have to look at and get better.“
