Rangers expert issues ‘devastating’ Tom Lawrence claim after Ibrox update

Alan Hutton has claimed Tom Lawrence’s latest injury setback is “devastating” for Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said getting Lawrence back fit will be “huge” for the Light Blues.

Speaking in his press conference (2 March), Michael Beale confirmed the 29-year-old, who hasn’t featured for the Gers since August, has suffered another setback and won’t return to the side until the start of next season.

The winger joined the Ibrox club from Derby in the summer and had made nine appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists, before picking up a knee injury.

Hutton is keen for Lawrence to return quickly but urged the attacker not to rush his return.

It will be devastating for him there is no getting away from that,” he told Football Insider.

I think he showed real promise in his first few months in what he was going to give the team moving forward. I think he is the insight into the future.

I think him getting fit is going to be huge for Rangers. In spite of having all these setbacks he has to hit the reset button.

Although it is difficult, he is probably going back to square one, but getting himself right and not trying to rush back too quickly and breaking down again.

You have got to feel for him but he is a great player, he has shown that in a Rangers jersey already. He just needs to get back fit and playing.

In other news, according to Kieran Maguire, Rangers can ‘compete at the top’ after £1m deal agreed.
