Rangers expert issues ‘incredible’ pre-Liverpool prediction after what he saw at Anfield
Rangers are capable of beating Liverpool when the sides face off at Ibrox this week.
That’s according to ex-Gers boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of Wednesday’s (12 October) clash at Ibrox.
Liverpool beat Rangers 2-0 on Tuesday (4 October) meaning Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side are yet to pick up a win in the group stage.
McLeish insists the “incredible” Ibrox crowd can make the difference against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“I still see Liverpool as favourites,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.
“People might listen to that and say, ‘who are you, Sherlock Holmes?’. It’s not very hard to predict that but Rangers, at Ibrox, with that incredible crowd behind them, they can always have a go.
“Let’s face it. When Rangers play at that fast tempo they have given some of Europe’s elite some very hard games, Dortmund for instance.
“Rangers beat them but this is now obviously the Champions League and teams tend to go up a few gears.
“That’s the difference. The difference in quality, Liverpool can sign the best players in the world and Rangers can only groom players before they leave.
“Look at Bassey going to Ajax. It is going to be a really hard game and Liverpool are favourites but anything can happen at Ibrox.”

Rangers lost 3-0 to Napoli and 4-0 to Ajax in their first two Champions League group-stage games.
They defeated St Mirren 4-0 on Saturday (8 October) to keep the pressure on league leaders Celtic.
