Rangers expert issues January signing claim after John Souttar update
Alan Hutton is hopeful Rangers will not need to sign another central defender in the January window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said the Light Blues will use the break in the league during the World Cup to focus on getting some of their injured players back to fitness.
As quoted by the Daily Record (28 October), Giovanni van Bronckhorst said the Gers’ January business will depend on how many players they have back from injury.
The Bears boss added that he is hopeful they can welcome some of the injured players back by the time the window opens.
The Ibrox club are currently missing Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Filip Helander and Ben Davies through injury.
Souttar joined the Bears from Hearts in July and has only made one competitive appearance for Van Bronckhorst’s side before being sidelined with an ankle injury.

Football Insider revealed on October 20 that Rangers have set aside “significant cash” for a January signing, with a new goalkeeper a priority at some point next year.
When asked if the Gers will look to bring in defensive reinforcements in January given their injury problems, Hutton told Football Insider: “Possibly.
“Obviously it feels like January is such a long time away when you think of the players that are out, the likes of Souttar, injury-wise has not been great. You would like to think he will be back before then.
“You have obviously got the break in the league before the World Cup so you would like to think you could get some of those boys back fit and raring to go. Hopefully it will not affect them too much.“
