Rangers expert issues ‘massive’ Glen Kamara verdict after journalist’s transfer update

Alan Hutton has claimed Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronkchorst will be desperate to hang on to Glen Kamara this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said Kamara, 26, is a “massive asset” for the club.

The centre-midfielder was named on the bench on Tuesday (9 August) as the Light Blues overcame a two-goal deficit in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier with Union Saint-Gilloise.

Kamara replaced Tom Lawrence for the final three minutes at Ibrox to help his side to victory.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey on Twitter (29 July), Italian side Salernitana have joined the race for the Finland international’s signature.

Galatasary, Marseille and Nottingham Forest are also said to be interested in the midfielder.

Kamara has three years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

When asked by Football Insider if Kamara would likely exit Ibrox before the window shuts, Hutton said: “I think he [Van Bronckhorst] will definitely want to hold onto him.

There is no getting away from the fact that he’s a valuable member of the squad.

Rangers

I think if you look at the style of play that they played last night, it was attacking. The likes of [Tom] Lawrence in midfield, [Scott] Arfield who could break forward and try and make things happen.

Of course any manager would want to keep hold of Kamara, he is a massive asset for the club.
