Rangers expert issues ‘massive’ Man United claim after source’s Jack Wylie reveal

Rangers will be “desperate” to keep hold of Jack Wylie.

That’s according to former Gers defender Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the youngster’s future.

On Friday (2 December), sources told this site that the Light Blues are pulling out all the stops to keep hold of the in-demand 15-year-old.

The teenage defender has caught the eye of scouts from Premier League big guns whilst playing for the Bears’ youth team and Scotland’s under-16s side.

Wylie will have to wait until he turns 16 in January before he can sign a professional deal raising fears that the likes of Man United, Arsenal and Leeds United, who have all registered their interest, could lure him away from Ibrox.

The Gers are all too familiar with losing young talent to the Premier League, having seen both Billy Gilmour and Rory Wilson head south of the border.

When asked how hard it will be for Rangers to keep hold of Wylie, Hutton told Football Insider:

Of course it will be difficult. We have seen it in the past with other players that have moved down south at an early age. Rangers will be desperate to tie him down to a long-term deal.

It is not for the first team at this moment in time but the potential is there to reach that level.

The draw of going to one of the top leagues, playing with some of the best managers and players around, you feel that that could possibly be the helping hand you need to progress in your career.

I hope that he signs with Rangers because the potential is there. He has a better chance of breaking into the first team there than going to Man United and things but the draw is massive. It is going to come down to where he sees his future.

In other news, Agbonlahor has revealed how he expects ex-teammate Josh Onomah to fare at Rangers after source’s reveal.
