Rangers expert issues ‘nasty’ Alfredo Morelos claim as BBC footage analysed

Alan Hutton has insisted Alfredo Morelos will always lack discipline after he was shown a yellow card less than a minute into the second half when Rangers faced St Mirren on Saturday (12 November).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers right-back said Morelos still looked like he was “sulking” despite being given a rare opportunity to start for the Light Blues.

As shown on BBC’s Sportscene (12 November), the 26-year-old was booked straight from kick-off in the second half after colliding with Ethan Erhahon.

Morelos replaced Antonio Colak in the starting lineup for the first time in the league this season but failed to make an impact in the 1-1 draw with the Saints.

Hutton insisted Morelos will never lose his “nasty” streak.

I think that will always be in his game,” he told Football Insider.

I do not think it is ever going to go out of him. It is definitely something that drives him on, that nasty side that he has got.

That was probably built up through frustration. To get yellow carded after about three seconds for just running into somebody is just stupid because you do not know what that is going to lead to.

Overall I thought his performance was really poor. He has been given an opportunity there and he looked like he was still sulking a wee bit. That could have led to something that was a lot worse.
