Rangers expert makes ‘surprising’ Luis Duk transfer claim after journalist’s reveal
Alan Hutton would be “surprised” if Rangers decided to pursue a move for Aberdeen hitman Luis ‘Duk’ Lopes.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said Michael Beale needs to bring in players that are going to “push” current squad members and doesn’t believe Duk fits that bill.
The 23-year-old has scored 11 goals in 28 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.
The forward joined the Dons from Benfica in the summer on a three year contract and has been impressing in the Scottish top flight.
Aberdeen are currently fifth in the Premiership, just two points behind fourth-placed Hibernian.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (8 March), Premier League clubs are monitoring Duk ahead of the summer window.
Rangers are on the hunt for a striker this summer given the uncertainty surrounding Alfredo Morelos’ future.
Beale also has recent addition Antonio Colak to call upon up front but will be looking to add reinforcements at the end of the season.
When asked if Duk could be an option for the Gers, Hutton told Football Insider: “I would be surprised.
“I think he has had a good season. He is one of those players that I think Rangers have got options like him or probably slightly better or more consistent than him.

“I think if you are going to bring somebody in it really has to be to push these guys on and be better than those.
“I think it would be an interesting one, he has had a good season. But I do not really see him moving to Rangers.“
