Rangers expert on Ryan Kent bust-up missed by the cameras – ‘people are annoyed’
Alan Hutton has suggested Ryan Kent escaped a yellow card for Rangers against Aberdeen on Sunday (15 January).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said he can understand why people were annoyed that referee Nick Walsh did not have another look at the incident.
In footage shared to Twitter (15 January), Kent can be seen colliding with Liam Scales with his arm raised, deep into added time at the end of the second half.
The referee lost contact with VAR officials at some point during the latter stages of the match and in the first half of extra-time fans in the stadium were informed it would not be used for the remainder of the game.
Moments later, however, it was announced that the issue had been resolved and the technology was back in action.
The Light Blues went on to win 2-1 win extra time to secure a place in the League Cup final.
Hutton, who was at the game, had seen the incident first hand.
“It seemed like more of a coming together for me,” he told Football Insider.
“I can see how people would want to have another look at it and there could be something there. But Scales is kind of blocking Kent’s run as he is trying to get forward, there is a coming together.

“Kent’s arm is up, it does make contact with Scales but I think it is more of a coming together than Ryan Kent actually throwing an elbow.
“I can see why people were annoyed but I think if the ref had seen it it would have been more of a yellow card than a red.“
