Rangers expert shares Dujon Sterling claim after training ground reveal
Dujon Sterling could return to Rangers training next week.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton is hopeful Sterling’s injury is short term and doesn’t hold him back for too much longer.
The summer signing was left in Glasgow whilst the rest of the squad travelled to Germany this week after picking up an injury.
The five other new arrivals have all joined Michael Beale’s men for the European trip but the 23-year-old stayed behind after reportedly suffering a calf strain in his first week of training.
The defender joined from Chelsea on a free transfer following the expiration of his Stamford Bridge contract.
Sterling put pent to paper on a four-year deal with the Glasgow club but is now facing an early set-back.
When asked if Sterling’s absence will be a big worry for the Light Blues, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think if you miss pre-season it can hold you back in missing the ground work to go on for the rest of the season.
“I am glad that it is only a calf strain, hopefully it was early enough that he will only be out for a week or so then he can get back to it.

“It seems like Michael Beale really wanted Sterling through the door. Whether it is a case of competition for Tavernier or a change of formation, he wants him part of this squad.
“Hopefully it is just short-term rather than long-term.“
