Rangers expert tells Celtic to complete ‘outstanding’ signing

Daniel Podence would be an “outstanding” addition to the Celtic squad.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton suggested that Podence’s wages could be a stumbling block in a potential transfer.

The 27-year-old has entered the final year of his Wolves contract and is yet to feature for the club this season.

According to journalist Charlie Haffenden (24 August), the Premier League side have placed Podence on their transfer list and are open to negotiations on price.

The Hoops are believed to hold a strong interest in the winger and are in need of reinforcements after losing Jota earlier this summer.

Fellow winger Sead Haksabanovic could also be on the way out and Football Insider revealed (24 August) that the Montenegro international is looking to move on.

Hutton suggested the Hoops should be willing to fork out more than their usual spend for Podence.

I think he makes them better when it all comes down to it,” he told Football Insider.

I think he is an outstanding footballer, played at a high level and he would come into that team and make them better in his position.

He is a little bit different in that he is not that 20 or 21-year-old that you are spending a few quid on to make money down the line. He is a little bit older, he has been there, seen it, done it.

Yes they are shelling out a lot of money but he is there to make the team better instantly. Not for the future, for now.

Wages could be a stumbling block but if they can get him in there is no doubt he makes the team better.
