Rangers expert thrilled by big Philippe Clement news – ‘This is something fans want to hear’

Philippe Clement is targeting “a number of areas” this month to improve his Rangers squad.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that the Belgian will be eager to form the squad in his own image after the swathe of Michael Beale summer signings.

Clement revealed that the club will be “very active” in the January transfer window and that he will “see what we can make happen”.

Clement has brought Wolves forward Fabio Silva in on a six-month loan deal, but the club are expected to bring in further recruits to keep the race tight with Celtic for the league title.

Hutton claimed fans want to see the club progress after their shaky start to the season and that Clement’s comments are exactly what they want to hear.

“They’ll want to see the team progressing and let’s not forget – this is a Michael Beale team,” he told Football Insider.

“This is something fans want to hear.

“Clement is yet to put his stamp on the squad at all. I imagine he’s identified a number of areas where he feels he has to strengthen.

“I’ve always said that you can’t stand still in any transfer window.

“You can’t close any doors and you have to look for areas to improve.

“That’s exactly what he’ll do.”
