Rangers expert worried about Abdallah Sima after what he’s just seen
Abdallah Sima has struggled in his opening games for Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton said the pre-season friendlies have been “difficult” for Sima but he has been impressed with fellow new arrival Kieran Dowell.
The Light Blues have played three pre-season friendlies at Ibrox, winning one and losing two and Sima has been in the starting lineup for all of those outings.
The 22-year-old joined the Ibrox club from Brighton on a season-long loan for the 2023-24 campaign.
Dowell also joined the Gers this summer on a free transfer after his contract at Norwich City expired.
When asked what he has made of the pre-season performances so far, Hutton told Football Insider: “The game [against Newcastle] was up against really good opposition but I thought Rangers held their own.
“I think it was more about seeing the new players, having an understanding between each other, building relationships. That is going to take time, I know they do not have a lot of it but it is only the start of the process but I am sure it will get better.

“The new signings have been decent. It has been difficult for Sima, missed a couple of opportunities, Dowell I thought has done well.
“Butland has not had much to do but you can tell he is a competent goalkeeper. I think there are a lot of positives to take out of it and hopefully over time it will get even better.“
