Rangers facing 'big loss' as Goldson 'promised more money in the Premier League' after source reveal - pundit

Connor Goldson may quit Rangers because he has been offered more money by a club in England, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted it would be a “big loss” for Rangers if Goldson left Ibrox next month.

A club source told Football Insider last week (2 December) the defender, 28, has rejected a contract offer and is eyeing a move to the Premier League.

His current Ibrox contract expires at the end of the current campaign so January is the last chance the Light Blues have to generate funds from his sale.

“It just looks like he wants more money,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He has no reason to leave Rangers, apart from for the money. Maybe Rangers can’t pay him what he wants.

“If I was Rangers, I’d look at as ‘We’ve reached the limited in terms of what we can offer to pay you so we have to sell you’.

“Maybe that’s something him and the club are looking at for January. Maybe he’s turned down this contract because he’s been promised more money in the Premier League.

“We’ll have to wait and see but it would be a big loss for Rangers because he’s been a good defender for them.”

Signed by Steven Gerrard in 2018, Goldson has played 188 times across all competitions for the Glasgow giants.

He has not missed a minute of action under new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst since he replaced Gerrard last month.
