Rangers fan branded ‘imbecile’ as pundit rages over Celtic defeat
Rangers thrashed Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox but one fan has been branded an “imbecile” by Marvin Bartley.
Goals from Ianis Hagi, Robin Propper, and Danilo secured a memorable derby triumph for Philippe Clement’s side at Ibrox.
The win marked Philippe Clement’s first victory over their fierce rivals and handed Celtic their first defeat of the season.
Celtic looked a shadow of their usual selves, with Rangers taking full advantage to cut the gap at the top of the table to 11 points.
However, despite a stellar team performance, the behaviour of a fan in the stadium drew negative attention.
A coin was thrown onto the pitch, striking Arne Engels as he went to take a late corner, which threatened to overshadow an otherwise positive day for the Gers.
Former Hibernian and Livingston player Bartley took to X to denounce the fan’s actions, despite praising Rangers for their commanding display.
He wrote: “Rangers were everything that Celtic weren’t today! On the front foot, aggressive when the ball went into certain areas, physical and proactive!
“Football was a great advert for Scottish football!! Imbecile who chucked a coin that hit Engels, you’re everything the game doesn’t need!!”
Rangers must look to build on this performance

Acts like this could overshadow the win, but there is no doubt that the fan responsible should face punishment.
Rangers, however, will hope this victory can serve as a springboard for the rest of their season.
Clement has been under considerable pressure following recent results, with his side sitting 14 points behind their rivals before today’s match.

This performance required every player to contribute, and that unity was evident on the pitch. Any speculation about a fractured dressing room has been emphatically dismissed by their cohesive display.
Fans will hope the club does not face repercussions for one supporter’s actions, as their focus remains on inconsistent refereeing decisions.
Following the controversial 3-3 Scottish League Cup final, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat, supporters had hoped for fewer discussions about officiating. However, the debate has continued after today’s events.
Despite these concerns, Rangers’ performance on the pitch could provide the confidence needed to stay in the title race and push for another strong run in Europe.
