'Garbage', 'Liability' - Rangers fans annihilate player for display in defeat to Celtic

Rangers fans on Twitter annihilated Fabio Cardoso for his performance in the 3-2 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday.

Cardoso, 23, was thrown into the fire in the 15th minute when David Bates was forced off injured during Tom Rogic’s goal.

However the summer signing was well off the pace according to the supporters and there was a lot of criticism aimed at him when Moussa Dembele out-muscled him to score the equaliser just before half-time.

Graeme Murty has rarely called upon Cardoso ever since he replaced Pedro Caixinha in the Ibrox hotseat.

The Portuguese centre-back has not started once in the Scottish Premiership since October, but if Bates’ injury is serious and Russell Martin has to spend longer on the sidelines, he could be a regular feature in the coming weeks.

Judging by the reactions of fans online though, it seems that would be a massive blow for the Gers as Cardoso failed to impress on Sunday.

One angry Ger claimed that the defender was “garbage” against Celtic.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Cardoso has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Rangers this season with the bulk of them coming before Caixinha was sacked.

He was sidelined for quite some time after undergoing surgery on a busted nose, but since recovering, he has barely had a sniff in Murty’s team.

In other Rangers news, this Arsenal star has claimed he would rather see this Rangers fringe player score against Celtic than win the lottery.
