Rangers fans call for world-renowned 46-year-old to return to the club

Rangers fans have urged Frank de Boer to return to the club in a managerial role with current boss Mark Warburton struggling at the club.

The Gers have suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat against Hearts alongside a 1-1 draw with Ross County in the past week, which has seen them drop down to third place in the Premiership table.

It is the club’s first season back in Scotland’s top flight after being demoted in 2012, but with the history of the famous club many feel that it is underachieving.

A number of supporters were keen to see Warburton lose his job after Saturday’s draw and fans on social media have already found the replacement in world-renowned former defender Frank de Boer.

The 46-year-old is currently without a job after losing his position at Inter Milan earlier in the season, while he also boasts six years of experience as manager of Ajax.

Rangers fans are now keen for him to take charge of their side and help them improve on their current position.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

De Boer played for Rangers for just half a season alongside his twin brother Ronald in 2004.

He played for a number of European giants, including Barcelona and Galatasaray and he would be quite the coup for Rangers if he did return in the future.

In other Rangers news, Andrew Davies believes the Gers must do this to get the best out of summer signing.
