Rangers fans explode at Philippe Clement after ‘unbelievable’ Butland claim
Rangers fans have exploded at Philippe Clement after his comments about Jack Butland following their Scottish Premiership clash v Kilmarnock.
Clement’s men fell to a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Rugby Park thanks to a late strike from Marley Watkins following a calamity in defence.
A long ball forward saw John Souttar fail to deal with the bounce, while Butland was obstructed by his defender and left nowhere near the eventual strike.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, the boss immediately singled out his goalkeeper as he shared: “Jack [Butland] was caught in no-man’s-land in that moment. It’s the small details. We need to learn from that.”
This left the travelling supporters raging at the decision to call out Butland after what was otherwise a performance which had kept Gers in the game.
A 1-0 defeat on the road meant Clement’s side are now six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in third place, with pressure continuing to grow on his position.
Following the result, and his comments to throw his players under the bus, supporters are now questioning how long he has left in the job.
Rangers fans demand Philippe Clement is sacked after what he said about Jack Butland
Two defeats and a draw in the opening eight games of the season and sitting third place in the table is simply not good enough for a Rangers side who always hope to challenge for the title.
While there is an acceptance that this side is not capable of winning the title, Clement’s position is under increasing scrutiny after recent displays.
Rangers fans were left fuming at the boss, labelling him “out of his depth”, and one went as far as to insist he has now “lost the dressing room.”
