Rangers fans explode at SPFL as ‘scandalous’ Ibrox decision confirmed
Rangers fans have been left fuming after their Scottish Premiership clash with St Johnstone was rearranged to 8pm on Sunday 6 October.
In an official statement released by the club, they confirmed the fixture was changed due to a clash with the Great Scottish Run, which would have made a “traditional afternoon kick-off”, “impossible”.
They confirmed that the club had put forward a number of alternatives including an earlier kick-off and fixture reversal before other stakeholders denied both options.
Now, with the fixture now scheduled for the evening, fans are questioning how supporters – both home and away – are expected to travel to and from Ibrox.
The Glasgow Subway closes at 6pm on a Sunday, while the late finish will mean fans don’t get home until far later than originally expected.
As a result, many are insisting they will refuse to attend the game, while others have been left fuming at the club and the SPFL for their decision.
Rangers fans left stunned by SPFL decision as St Johnstone fixture rearranged
Rangers fans are quickly growing sick of the constant changing of their fixtures so far this season – having already been made to play several home games at Hampden Park.
Whatever reason is given, and whether alternatives were or were not available, ultimately it is the fans that suffer from the decisions yet again.
Supporters have flocked to social media in outrage at the decision, labelling it “scandalous”, “shambolic” and “a mess” – while one called to “boycott” the game.
