Rangers fans fume at ‘clueless’ Philippe Clement after what they saw v Hearts
Rangers fans have been left raging at Philippe Clement following Connor Barron’s substitution during the clash against Hearts.
Clement’s side ran out 1-0 winners thanks to an early goal from Cyriel Dessers, but it was an all-too-familiar disappointing display at Ibrox.
Frustrations on the blue side of Glasgow have continued to grow amid pressure on the manager from the crowd for a lack of convincing performances in the league.
Despite a win and a clean sheet, the win was far from simple for the home side as the struggling visitors hit the woodwork and caused plenty of issues.
With anger at Clement continuing to bubble amongst the fans, his decision to take off Barron for Dujon Sterling in the 68th minute was labelled “baffling”.
The decision was also met with a chorus of boos from the home crowd, with one of this season’s most consistent performers withdrawn.
However, following the game, the manager hit back at the fans as he argued: “They don’t know everything. It’s about managing players who are tired and haven’t played so many minutes.
“I think they’d be less pleased if he picked up an injury.”
Rangers fans can’t believe what Philippe Clement did v Hearts
Barron has featured in all of Rangers’ 20 games across all competitions so far this season, and has established himself as one of their most important players.
With the team holding on to all three points against Hearts, the decision to take him off left supporters stunned and has only brought more pressure on the boss.
Alongside the chorus of boos at Ibrox, supporters who were unable to attend the game took to social media to echo their frustrations as they labelled Clement “clueless” and “horrific”.
