Rangers fans fume at Cyriel Dessers as ‘infuriating’ footage emerges from Ross County defeat

Rangers fans were furious with striker Cyriel Dessers for his “infuriating” miss in their defeat against Ross County on Sunday afternoon (14 April).

The Gers suffered a shock loss to the relegation-battling Staggies with a 3-2 defeat which put a huge dent in their title hopes.

Ross County looked the better side across the 90, but Rangers took the lead after 15 minutes after Jack Baldwin kicked it into his own net under pressure.

However, Don Cowie’s side hit back in the second half and were 2-1 up by the 50th minute thanks to strikes from Simon Murray and George Harmon.

They secured the win after Josh Sims’ 69th-minute goal and James Tavernier’s consolation penalty proved futile, but Rangers fans believe they could have secured all three points if Dessers was more ruthless in front of goal.

Sky Sports footage showed the summer signing miss a one-v-one chance in the 28th minute with the score 1-0 to Rangers.

Fabio Silva managed to whip the ball from the left wing into the box, but a deflection sent it straight to the Nigeria international’s feet.

However, he leathered the ball with no precision and County’s shot-stopper Ross Laidlaw managed to make a great save to keep them in the game.

Dessers missed numerous opportunities to double Rangers’ lead – and fans have had enough of his frequently poor finishing.

They have taken to social media to react to the “rotten” miss, and many feel his lack of impact has cost the Gers the title.
