Rangers fans have ‘turned against’ Michael Beale after what pundit has heard
Frank McAvennie has claimed the Rangers fans have “turned against” Michael Beale after Sunday’s Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Beale needs to stop offering up excuses when his side don’t win.
The Gers were beaten 1-0 by their Glasgow rivals in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden, less than a month after losing 3-2 to the Celts in their penultimate league fixture.
As shown on Viaplay Sports (30 April), Daizen Maeda took advantage of a lapse in concentration by the Gers players around him to ping a ball into Jota who easily headed past Allan McGregor.
Whilst Borna Barisic, Nicolas Raskin and John Lundstram were complaining over a challenge on Matt O’Riley, Maeda took advantage of the distraction to nab the ball and find Jota in the perfect position in the box.
Speaking after the match, the Light Blues boss complained that the game “has been very harsh” on his side.
Following their 2-0 defeat to Aberdeen last weekend, Beale tried to claim that a foul on Fashion Sakala should have ruled out one of the Dons’ goals, which even ex-Rangers man Kris Boyd disagreed with.
McAvennie has told Beale to just accept the result of the games.
“The fans will not accept any more excuses,” he told Football Insider.

“I would like to see a manager come out and say that they are closing the gap instead of making all these excuses that we have heard before.
“I think the Rangers supporters will have turned against the manager after that [defeat]. He will know the pressure of being a Rangers manager now.”
