Rangers fans hope ‘dreadful’ star has played his last game for the club

Rangers fans are hopeful that James Tavernier has played his final game for the club after a “dreadful” display in the Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic.

Gers suffered late heartbreak at Hampden Park after Adam Idah’s goal in the 90th minute gave Celtic a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon (25 May).

Philippe Clement’s side thought they had gone ahead in the second half, but Abdallah Sima’s goal was ruled out for a foul on Joe Hart.

Rangers have now ended their season with only the Scottish League Cup to show for it with Celtic claiming a league and cup double over their arch-rivals.

Fans are expecting a major overhaul at Ibrox ahead of the 2024-25 campaign with a number of first-team players set to leave the club this summer.

Club captain Tavernier is among the players linked with a move away after spending the past nine years in Glasgow.

Football Insider was told by Gers expert Frank McAvennie that Tavernier has told the club he is leaving this summer.

Rangers fans on social media are hoping that the 32-year-old has played his final game for the club, with some supporters urging the club to sell him.

Clement’s side will return in their pre-season tour over the summer, including a match against Manchester United, before heading into their 2024-25 campaign.
