Rangers fans: Philippe Clement ‘has lost the players’ as footage re-analysed

Rangers fans are insisting Philippe Clement has “lost the dressing room” as calls for his sack continued following the clash v Hearts at Tynecastle.

Clement’s side led 1-0 at half-time thanks to an own-goal from Jamie McCart, before Michael Steinwender’s strike pinned them back to 1-1 shortly after the break.

A second-half goal from Vaclav Cerny and a second own-goal from McCart ensured the visitors eventually took home all three points, but it was not enough to appease the fans.

In spite of the eventual scoreline, the travelling supporters have made their frustrations heard as calls for the manager’s head have continued.

This follows last week’s shock defeat to Queens Park at Ibrox, which saw the hosts dumped out of the Scottish Cup.

Meanwhile, Celtic’s 3-0 drubbing of Dundee United at Parkhead on 15 February saw them move X points clear of their rivals as they continue their cruise toward the title.

Pressure on Clement has continued to rise in a season full of disappointments, and many supporters have been left shocked that he is still in the job.

Rangers eye Philippe Clement successor amid growing pressure

Should Clement lose his job in the coming weeks amid intense pressure from the stands, attentions will immediately turn to his potential successor as Rangers boss.

Football Insider revealed on 3 January that there are already four candidates in the running to replace the manager, amid growing speculation about his future.

Steve Cooper, Derek McInnes, Kevin Muscat and Russell Martin have all been considered for the role – although there are suggestions the latter would rather stay in England.

Concerns about performances both on and off the pitch at Ibrox have made Clement’s position a difficult one, but there is thought to be no shortage of interest in the role.

Philippe Clement sack pressure builds after Hearts result

Former Man United scout and Sir Alex Ferguson number two Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that Clement’s job could be safe while they remain in the Europa League.

However, with building pressure from the stands, supporters are calling for the final decision to be made sooner rather than later.

Taking to social media both during and following the game, fans expressed their rage towards Clement, labelling him “shocking” and insisting “he has lost the players”.
