Rangers fans rage at Dujon Sterling red card as ‘horrific’ footage emerges

Rangers fans seethe at referee Don Robertson for sending off Dujon Sterling as controversial footage drops from 2-1 win against Aberdeen

Rangers fans were furious with referee Don Robertson for sending off Dujon Sterling in their victory over Aberdeen on Tuesday (6 February).

The Gers secured a 2-1 win against the Dons thanks to Rabbi Matondo’s seventh-minute opener and Todd Cantwell’s excellent second-half strike to spoil Neil Warnock’s return to management.

The victory also meant Philippe Clement’s side went equal on points with league leaders Celtic after they dropped points against Aberdeen on Saturday (3 February).

However, while the Ibrox faithful were delighted with the huge win, they were seething with Robertson’s “horrific” decision to dismiss Sterling in the 88th minute.

The defender was given his marching orders just 13 minutes after coming on from the bench for a tackle on Jack MacKenzie.

Robertson confirmed his decision after a VAR check, but Rangers fans could not believe Sterling was sent off as they claimed it was a genuine attempt to get the ball and his boot was not high enough to warrant a straight red.

They have taken to social media to call out the referee for his “atrocious” decision, and some have claimed that VAR needs to be “binned”.
