Rangers prospect Serge Atakayi gave fans another glimpse of his potential in the Ibrox side’s 5-2 Scottish FA Youth Cup over Partick Thistle on Monday night – and fans now want the jet-heeled winger in the first-team.

The 18-year-old Congolese winger capped a stunning display by scoring in extra-time as the Light Blues sealed their place in the next round of the cup after a hard fought victory.

Zak Rudden’s double added to goals from Atakayi, Andy Dallas and Dapo Mebude eventually saw off Thistle but it was Atakayi that left fans raving about his performance as they left Ibrox.

Since moving to Ibrox last year, rising star Atakayi has been in fantastic form for the Under-20’s and regularly gets his name on the scoresheet.

Fans were blown away by the 18-year-old and were suggesting he could follow the likes of Ross McCrorie, Myles Beerman and Jamie Barjonas into the first-team at Ibrox.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Atakayi has experience of playing first-team football after playing regularly for FF Jaro in Finland before making the move to Ibrox.

With Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias filling the jerseys in the first-team and Aaron Nemane and Dalcio also competing for a place in the first XI, Atakayi faces a fight to get a place in the senior side.
