Carlos Pena made his full Rangers debut in their 3-1 Scottish League Cup win against Partick Thistle – and fans took to Twitter to rave about his display.
Pena opened the scoring with a second-half header in his first start for the Glasgow giants since his move this summer.
But Rangers needed extra time, and further goals from Daniel Candeias and Eduardo Herrera, to book a place in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals.
One of the main talking points among supporters after the triumph at Firhill was the performance of Mexico international Pena, who has been on the fringes of the team in the opening two months of the campaign.
They were hugely impressed by the 27-year-old on Tuesday night during his 71 minutes on the pitch and insisted the signs were positive ahead of sterner tests ahead.

Pena showed small glimpses of what he can offer us. Got into some good areas & was very close with a few of those final passes into Morelos.

Peña’s vision is fantastic for link ups with Morelos. It would be more effective against Celtic IMO.
Far less compact cos they won’t sit in— Craig Smith (@csljm84) September 20, 2017
Yeah Pena is slowly getting there. Need to remember both Pena and Morelos dont speak a word of English. That can’t be easy!

McCrorie looks like a ???? prospect.
Morelos needs to be given an improved deal to scare away the suitors.
Herrera and Peña are getting there

Watching the game back here. Not sure why Pena is copping it, some great vision, good support to Morelos and great header. Good signs ????

Took extra time but lots of positives. Jack was class, Pena looked a genuine creative threat, Morelos continues to grow into one of our most

Central midfielder Pena has made five appearances for the Glasgow giants since his £2.5million summer move from Leon.
He has now scored twice, against Dundee as well as Partick, but his playing time for the club has amounted to 175 minutes and supporters will be keen to see more of their big-money new arrival.
Pena will hope to keep his place in the starting XI for Saturday’s Old Firm showdown against Celtic.
In other Rangers team news, Chris Sutton has destroyed a midfielder for his display against Partick Thistle.
