Rangers fans react to Kiernan banned from showdown against Celtic

Rob Kiernan will miss Sunday’s clash against Celtic after his appeal against a two-match Rangers ban was  – and Rangers fans on Twitter are prepared for a change at the back.

Kiernan, 26, was expected to start in the middle of the Gers defence alongside veteran Clint Hill against Celtic, as his side look to prevent a fourth straight loss to the Hoops this term.

However, the Scottish FA reported on their website that Kiernan’s two-match ban for a red card received during the 3-2 win against St. Johnstone has been upheld by a disciplinary panel.

Rangers’ number four will now miss Sunday’s clash as well as next weekend’s showdown against Hamilton at Ibrox.

Rangers fans were undecided on Twitter, with many happy that the defender was banned after taking a lot of criticism for his performances this season.

Some fans responded by suggesting that forgotten man Philippe Senderos could replace Kiernan, despite receiving a red card in his debut against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Former Wigan and Birmingham defender Kiernan has made 30 league and cup appearances this season, helping his side achieve 18 victories.
