The Scottish FA have confirmed Willie Collum will take charge of this weekend’s crucial Old Frim clash between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox – and Gers fans are distraught at the thought of the bumbling whistler being in charge.

Collum has been at the centre of a number of high-profile controversies during his time as a referee – both at home and abroad – and was even demoted by the Scottish FA after a string of errors.

Gers fans were gutted to see Collum given the massive clash, as confirmed on the SFA’s official website, although some Rangers fans were simply relieved it wasn’t John Beaton who was in charge on Sunday.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Collum’s appointment will almost certainly leave both sets of fans unhappy with a string of errors involving Celtic too.

The lunchtime clash could see Graeme Murty’s side close to within three points of their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership and blow the title race wide open with only a handful of games left in the season.

The last meeting between the pair was December’s 0-0 draw at Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers’ side failed for the second time to beat Murty’s side despite the gulf between the two teams.
