Rangers fans react on Twitter to Garner display v St Johnstone

By Dominic Toner

Joe Garner played 62 minutes against St Johnstone on Wednesday – and the club’s supporters were furious with his decision on Twitter.

The Gers dropped two points in the Scottish Premiership as they recorded a disappointing 1-1 away draw.

Barrie McKay had given the visitors the lead, but a sloppy back pass from Rob Kiernan allowed Steven MacLean to score the equaliser in the first-half.

Garner was unable to stamp his authority on the match and was withdrawn by manager Mark Warburton after a poor display.

Rangers fans voiced their anger towards the striker and feel he made no impact on the game.

Garner has emerged as Rangers’ first-choice forward this season, but has now scored just three goals in 21 appearances.

The 28-year-old has become a fan favourite and will be keen to repay their faith on the pitch with some goals.

His starting position now be under threat as the Gers face Old Firm rivals Celtic on Saturday in the league, with Martyn Waghorn vying for a place in the side.

Garner moved to Ibrox in the summer for £1.5million and is yet to justify that large price tag.

The striker’s best spell came with Preston and he will be keen to return to that form, scoring 27 goals in 44 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign.
