By James Black

Interim Rangers boss Graeme Murty has named his starting XI to face Partick Thistle on Saturday afternoon and fans are surprised to see Bruno Alves start on the bench.

The Ibrox boss has named an unchanged side from his first game in charge last weekend, as announced on their official Twitter account on Saturday.

The Gers eased by Hearts at Murrayfield last Saturday 3-1 after a double from Kenny Miller and a strike from Josh Windass.

Ross McCrorie and Danny Wilson continue in central defence after impressing at Murrayfield.

Despite their surprise at Alves’ place among the substitutes after being omitted from the starting line-up, most agreed it was the right decision by Murty.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Alves missed the trip to Murrayfield through suspensio after being retrospectively banned following the League Cup semi-final for a kick at Motherwell’s Louis Moult.

The Light Blues are third in the Scottish Premiership and go into this weekend’s round of fixtures trailing leaders Celtic by six points.

The Gers will be hoping for three points going into the international break to keep within touching distance of the leaders before the appointment of Pedro Caixinha’s replacement as manager.

In other Rangers news, an Ibrox legend was delighted to see Kenny Miller back in the starting XI.
