Scotland boss Gordon Strachan has been sacked as Scotland boss after failing to reach next summer’s World Cup in Russia – and Rangers fans are pretty happy to see the former Celtic boss leave.

The Scottish FA confirmed that Strachan would not continue in the role after Scotland’s World Cup hopes ended with a 2-2 draw in Slovenia on Sunday.

The Scots failure to qualify for the World Cup was their tenth consecutive failure to make it beyond qualification and now the Scottish FA have decided it’s time for a change.

Strachan and his assistant Mark McGhee have left with immediate effect.

Gers fans quickly took to Twitter to make their feelings known and there wasn’t much sympathy for Strachan.

Here are some of their comments:

Strachan was appointed Scotland manager in January 2013, succeeding Craig Levein in the role and overseeing the end of the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Strachan was criticised for his team selections and tactics throughout the campaign with his decision to keep Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths on the sidelines for the opening three matches proving costly.

David Moyes, Malky Mackay, Derek McInnes and Alex McLeish are among the early favourites listed by bookmakers to replace Strachan.
