Rangers attacker Josh Windass struggled to put in a performance like the ones fans have become accustomed to from him as the Gers secured a 2-0 win over Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

The 24-year-old has been in fantastic form over the last few months with 14 goals in 18 games going into the clash with Hearts but struggled to get involved in the opening 45 minutes.

Director of football Mark Allen recognised Windass’ recent form and rewarded the former Accrington ace with a new contract earlier this month.

Gers fans were disappointed with Windass’ performance and blasted him on Twitter, with one saying that he was “shocking”.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

The attacker really should have made it 2-0 just after the second-half kicked off but managed to fire over with an empty net.

Despite his recent purple patch, Windass spurned three or four really good chances to double the Gers’ lead and make the result secure.

Windass has only managed to score four of his fifteen goals this season at Ibrox as the 24-year-old continues to struggle in home games.

The win over the Jambos takes the Gers to six points off Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic ahead of their clash with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

In other Rangers news, the club have secured an out-of-window deal for a goalkeeper.
