Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday was a surprise starter for Rangers in Sunday’s Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final – and Gers fans were far from impressed with the 26-year-old’s performance.

Halliday returned to the starting XI for the first times since the previous round of the competition against Falkirk and slotted into central midfield alongside Greg Docherty and Graham Dorrans.

After being sent to Azerbaijan on loan by Pedro Caixinha earlier in the season Halliday’s Ibrox career looked over before being recalled by Graeme Murty in January.

However he failed to impress against the Hoops and was hooked before half-time after an abject performance.

Fans thought the midfielder’s performance was nowhere near good enough – with one calling it “pathetic.”

The 26-year-old was well off the pace and continually gave the ball away as the Gers struggled to get to grips with te game and fell behind to Tom Rogic’s 21st-minute strike.

Halliday has made ten appearances for the Gers this season but has been used sparingly since returning from his loan sting in Azerbaijan earlier in the campaign.

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox legend revealed he was gutted at the news of David Bates agreeing to join Hamburg.
