Premier League new boys Cardiff City are hot on the trail of Josh Windass – and Rangers fans on Twitter have urged their club to cash in on the first team regular.

The Four Lads Had a Dream blog, which regularly breaks Light Blues news before the mainstream media, reported on its Twitter site on Thursday night that Neil Warnock’s side are in talks with the attacking midfielder over a £3million summer move, and there is also interest from Burnley.

Reports from the Scottish Sun and Scottish Daily Mail also took on the story, with both outlets explaining that Rangers could cash in on Windass to raise funds for a mass overhaul of the squad that has fallen drastically short this season.

Windass, who stands at 5ft 7in according to Transfermarkt, has been a mainstay of the team and has been particularly effective in the second half of the season in a central attacking midfield role behind the main striker.

In 40 matches in all competitions, the 24-year-old has scored 17 goals and supplied eight assists, with 12 of his goals coming in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers fans keen their club should sell the Englishman, with comments including “get rid” and “I’d gnaw someone’s hand off if they’re offering £3million for him”.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
