'Verbal grenades', 'King is going to show his hand' - Rangers fans react to £6m injection update

Dave King has confirmed that Rangers are set to see a fresh injection of funds with the Ibrox giants planning to raise £6million through a share issue – and Gers fans weren’t surprised there wasn’t a huge amount of detail from the chairman.

As quoted by STV, the Ibrox giants plan to raise the funds imminently but the Gers chairman confirmed there would be no external investment in the Light Blues despite a host of pundits suggesting that is what is needed for an overhaul of the squad in the summer.

Fans of the Ibrox giants didn’t appear to be too moved one way or another by the news – with one saying “no other club would tell the press” how much was available to spend so “why should we?”

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

After appointing Steven Gerrard as the club’s new manager on Friday, fans were speculating that there could be news of massive new investment coming into the Ibrox giants.

The share issue will see existing loans from directors and shareholders converted into shares in the club while also offering the chance for existing shareholders to invest more funds into the Glasgow giants.

It’s unclear what effect, if any, it will have on Gerrard’s budget for players this summer as he looks to revamp the Ibrox squad.

In other Rangers news, both the Gers and Celtic are in the running to sign this £100,000-a-week Premier League midfielder who will be available in the summer.
