'Exactly what was missing' - Rangers fans rave about senior ace, want Murty to change his role
Rangers returned to action for the first time since the Scottish Cup thrashing by Celtic when they took on Hearts at Ibrox on Sunday – and Graham Dorrans’ performance left fans desperate to see the midfielder used further forward.
Dorrans was deployed in a more withdrawn role in central midfield beside Jason Holt and controlled the tempo of the game as the Ibrox giants tried to force the issue and break the deadlock.
The former Norwich midfielder was thundering into challenges and showing some really nice touches as the Gers put their visitors under serious pressure as they looked to return to second-place in the Scottish Premiership with a win.
Gers fans were pleading with manager Graeme Murty to use the senior ace further forward and get the best out of the former Scotland international – with one fan saying he hasn’t got a “proper chance” playing further back.
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Glad to see we can still bring the fight to the big games.

Graham Dorrans has put in more tackles already than he did in the whole of last week's defeat.

The tackle Dorrans just made – that’s exactly what was missing last week

A greater role of Dorrans helps the transition is the box to box facilitator, and at other times goes and press up to hinder.

Get Dorrans playing were Windass is and watch the difference

Dorrans hasn't got a proper chance, he's never a holding midfielder, got to be used as attacking midfielder to see the best in him. Docherty has been like a headless chicken last few matches

Dorrans to deep once again!

Dorrans joined the Gers last summer but was forced to miss almost six months of action with an ankle injury and has recently come back into the side after returning to fitness.
