Former Rangers defender Danny Wilson has claimed that the Ibrox giants made a U-turn over a new deal for the 26-year-old before allowing him to leave and join Colorado Rapids – and Gers fans aren’t too upset by the decision from the Ibrox hierarchy.

Wilson had been in good form before his surprise switch to the Major League Soccer franchise but the defender hadn’t done it regularly enough since returning to Ibrox to make his departure one that left fans worried.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty had previously said the defender had made it clear he wanted to move on when the opportunity to move Stateside was presented however Wilson has since called that “inaccurate rubbish.”

Rangers fans weren’t too concerned with Wilson’s claims – with one fan saying Ibrox chief Mark Allen’s decision was “spot on.”

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Wilson enjoyed two spells with the Ibrox giants after making the breakthrough as a 17-year-old under Walter Smith.

After leaving to join Liverpool in 2011, Wilson returned to the Gers in 2015 after a stint with Hearts.

The defender helped the Light Blues secure promotion back to the Scottish Premiership in 2016 as well as lifting the Scottish Challenge Cup during his second spell.

Wilson made a total on 108 appearances over his two spells with the Gers and won the Scottish Premiership. Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup before leaving to join Liverpool seven years ago.
