Rangers fans react on Twitter to Dominic Ball loan

By Harvey Byrne

Rangers fans have been left wondering why they didn’t re-sign Dominic Ball after he joined Peterborough on loan on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old defender spent the previous season on loan at the Ibrox giants from Tottenham, which saw them win the Championship title and return to the Premiership.

He was a solid part of the Gers’ defensive unit and played in 30 encounters in all competitions for Mark Warburton’s side.

He ended up leaving Spurs in the summer for Championship side Rotherham, where he has played just 13 times this season.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that Ball would now be spending the rest of the season in League One and Rangers fans on social media are wondering why they didn’t go back in for him.

Rangers’ current defence consists of Clint Hill and Rob Kiernan as the two centre-backs with Andy Halliday protecting in the defensive midfield.

Ball can cover the two positions, but Warburton has obviously decided against making another move for the youngster.

Rangers currently have the third best defensive record in the Premiership with just league leaders Celtic and third placed Aberdeen bettering them.

The solid defence has seen them settle in second place and they will be keen to qualify for next season’s Europa League in their first season back in the top flight.

In other Rangers news, Kenny Shiels believes this Gers ace would walk into Celtic’s team.
