Rangers fans react on Twitter to Garner display against Hamilton

By Harry Sykes

Joe Garner scored a hat-trick as Rangers romped to a 6-0 Scottish Cup triumph against Hamilton on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to praise his display.

The striker was introduced as half-time replacement for fellow front man Kenny Miller and responded with three second-half goals.

Former Preston forward Garner was in the thick of the action in the second period, not only with his goals but he also spent 10 minutes off the pitch after a clash of heads with a visiting defender.

Nonetheless, Garner shook off the blow to return to the action and score two more goals to ensure Rangers progressed into the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Further goals from Martyn Waghorn, Jon Toral and Clint Hill helped the Ibrox giants complete a comfortable victory.

Fans were impressed with the fortitude of Garner and a number of supporters commented on social media about his bravery.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Garner has had a difficult campaign at Rangers since his £1.8million move from the English Championship last summer.

Supporters will now be hoping he can replicate his cup form in the league as the Scottish giants prepare to host fierce rivals Celtic in their next match.

In other Rangers news, this is the huge sum lost by Mark Warburton after his behind-the-scenes manoeuvrings horribly backfired.
