Rangers fans react on Twitter to thrashing against RB Leipzig

By Emma Sanders

Rangers fans reacted with frustration and disappointment on Twitter as they were handed a thrashing by RB Leipzig in a friendly encounter on Sunday evening.

Mark Warburton’s side were shown how to play intense football as the Bundesliga outfit secured a comfortable 4-0 victory at the Red Bull Arena.

Snowy conditions didn’t slow the German high-flyers down but Rangers seemed to be lost in a winter wonderland as the European side demonstrated their superiority with ease.

The Gers used the friendly as a test during the Premiership break and they were certainly given a thorough examination as fans became frustrated by Rangers’ lack of influence on the game.

The club’s support had little interest in listening to excuses from the management and players in the aftermath of the match.

There were a few senior figures missing as Lee Wallace, Joe Garner and Joe Dodoo all sat out through injury but new signing Jon Toral had a game to forget as Rangers were completely out-classed in midfield.

Rangers had a few opportunities which they didn’t take and they simply weren’t clinical enough when in possession – often making mistakes.

There were no stand-out performers from Rangers either and a leader was hard to spot as the Scottish giants were given a lesson on what it takes to compete against the top sides in Europe.

Warburton will prepare his side for their next competitive fixture against Motherwell in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup later this month but if anything, the loss will have shown just how much the Gers still need to work on.
