Rangers fans slaughter starter who was ‘utter dross’ despite win vs Hibernian: ‘He’s garbage’

Rangers fans have ripped into Nasser Djiga for his latest poor performance on Monday night against Hibernian.

Djiga joined Rangers on loan from Wolves in the summer transfer window after he had made five Premier League appearances last season.

Many at Ibrox will have expected him to be ready-made for a Premiership title charge, but the club has been in turmoil since his arrival and his performances have been consistently poor as a result.

Djiga has been slammed by Rangers fans on numerous occasions so far this term, but their lack of depth in defence has meant that Danny Rohl has had to stick with him up to now.

The Gers beat Hibernian 1-0 on home turf on Monday night to move up to third in the table, but Djiga let his teammates down once more despite the win.

Djiga was poor against Hibs before he travels to AFCON

Many Rangers fans have called for Djiga to return to Wolves in January despite their lack of defensive depth.

They will feel some relief to learn that this latest game against Hibs was his last before heading to the African Cup of Nations with Burkina Faso this week.

The 23-year-old looked as shaky as ever while trying to play the ball out from the back, and often failed to progress the play forward when he should have, instead going for the safer option.

He only won 50 per cent of his ground duels and committed a foul, while he also drew negative attention for feigning contact and trying to win a foul of his own in the second-half as referee Don Robertson ignored his claims completely.

Not only did Djiga not perform to the standards required, but he was also shown up by his centre-back partner Emmanuel Fernandez, who notched the winner for Rangers in the 35th minute and was impressive throughout.

Rangers fans slate ‘garbage’ Djiga after Hibs performance

Many Rangers fans took to X during and after the Hibs game to share their thoughts on his performance, with one saying: “Djiga is an awful attempt at a footballer.”

Another added: “Djiga going to AFCON is brilliant for us. He is awful, and I hope (Burkina Faso) get to the final and then party until the summer. He has permission.”

While one said: “I’d drive Djiga back down to Wolverhampton myself but we’re a bit short on fit centre halves at the moment.”
