Rangers fans stunned by ‘shocking’ Ianis Hagi as tearful footage drops

Rangers fans branded Ianis Hagi’s red card tackle as “shocking” after he made his return to the squad on Sunday (6 October).

The 25-year-old made his return for the Light Blues after 14 months out of the first team, but it turned out to be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Even though Hagi was able to provide an assist as Rangers defeated St Johnstone 2-0, he ended up leaving the pitch in tears after being sent off.

The Romania international was shown a straight red card in the 81st minute after a late challenge on Benjamin Kimpioka, bringing an abrupt end to his return.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement told Premier Sports that Hagi’s lack of fitness could’ve been the reason for the red card.

He said, “It is a clumsy challenge in that way for a player who is not fully fit yet for the moment. But this is the only way to get him fit and ready.”

Rangers fans felt Ianis Hagi’s tackle was ‘poor’

Even though Gers fans were pleased to see Hagi back involved, they felt his tackle was “very silly.”
