Rangers fans urge debutant to perform against Celtic after reported injury blow to senior star

By Amir Mir

Rangers take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon – and fans on Twitter have urged Jak Alnwick to produce the goods after the injury to Wes Foderingham.

The Scottish Sun claim the Ibrox number one goalkeeper sustained an injury in training and will take no part in the Old Firm fixture.

This could mean that backup shot-stopper, Alnwick, who joined the club during the January transfer window, could make his debut for the club at Hampden Park.

Alnwick could feature for the first time on one of the biggest stages in world football as fans urged the debutant to perform.

Supporters were gutted that their senior star, Foderingham may have to sit out the fixture as they feel he has been one of their best players during this campaign.

Nonetheless, many put faith in Alnwick to put in a solid display against a Celtic side that has scored in all four Old Firm matches this term.

Added to that, they have won three of those games, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw when the duo met in March at Parkhead.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Alnwick moved to Ibrox during the winter transfer window when he made the switch from League One struggler’s Port Vale.

The former Newcastle player has not had a look in since his move to Glasgow, with Foderingham showing safe hands throughout the campaign.
