Two 5-1 wins, neither make top spot in Rangers five best ever wins v Celtic

Rangers fans haven’t had much to smile about in recent years after their club had to climb back up through the leagues following financial meltdown in 2012 but the Light Blues could get their hands on the club’s first major trophy since 2011 by winning this season’s Scottish Cup.

The Gers face Old Firm rivals Celtic next Sunday at Hampden for a place in the final but have only picked up one win over the Hoops since 2012 – the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final – and will be desperate to reverse that when they go head-to-head at the national stadium.

Since the two sides first faced off in 1887, there have been plenty of classic clashes between Scotland’s two biggest clubs as the Glasgow giants have dominated the Scottish game.

While neither side will care if next Sunday’s game is one that lives long in the memories of fans and neutrals alike, the pulsating derby is never short of talking points and controversy – particularly when it comes to Hampden meetings between the two.
