Kieran Maguire hails 'very smart move' after Rangers deal confirmed
Rangers were smart to capitalise on their fanbase in the Middle East with their latest marketing stunt.
That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after Rangers lit up the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, as part of their title celebrations.
In a statement, the Ibrox club called last Sunday’s dramatic lights show a “tribute to our incredible supporters worldwide for their phenomenal backing and loyalty.”

The club was marking its 55th Scottish Premiership title and its first in a decade, secured with an undefeated season under manager Steven Gerrard.
Maguire lauded Rangers for the dramatics lights display, claiming that this sort of gesture will strengthen the bond between the club and its overseas fans.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “It’s a very smart marketing move, yes. We know they have a significant overseas presence.

“Things of this nature can help protect and indeed strengthen that connection. It’s also Rangers being able to show their mark in a slightly different light.
“It’s a celebration of deservedly winning the Premiership at a canter. This is something to make the fans feel a little bit prouder than they already are, if that’s at all possible.”
In Glasgow, the club’s title festivities were marred by sectarian and racist chanting.
Rangers later released a statement condemning in the strongest possible terms the minority of “so-called fans” responsible.
