Kieran Maguire 'amazed' by Rangers as new shirt sponsor deal announced

Rangers have likely negotiated an improved sleeve sponsor deal because of their “amazing” progress in Europe this season.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the new partnership with e-commerce platform Boxt.

Rangers announced on Monday (9 May) that Boxt branding would feature on their shirts from the beginning of the 2022-23 season.

The American company replaces Tomket Tires, whose two-year sleeve deal expires at the end of the current campaign.

The Glasgow giants won a first Scottish Premiership title in a decade during the course of the Tomket deal and have this year reached the Europa League final.

And Maguire insists that their extraordinary European campaign will have helped Rangers during negotiations with Boxt.

“Rangers are in a very strong position because of the amazing progress they have made in Europe this season,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“I suspect there will be step-ups if they do qualify for the Champions League next season because that would increase their profile.

“They would play three more home matches at Ibrox as well because the seeding means they go straight into the group stages. It’s going to be very beneficial.”

Rangers will qualify directly for the Champions League group stages if they beat Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville next Wednesday (18 May).

They are set to see an upswing on the £10.7million they earned in commercial income in 2020-21.
