Kieran Maguire issues ‘huge’ Rangers claim as new Indian deal announced
Rangers are looking to leverage their success in Europe to explore business opportunities in India.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Rangers’ new link-up with the All India Football Federation.
The commercial and strategic deal with India’s equivalent of the FA was announced on Wednesday (1 May).
Rangers already have a pre-existing relationship with Indian Super League side Bengaluru.
It is claimed that the 2021-22 Europa League runners-up will work alongside the All India Football Federation on commercial projects and international strategy.
Maguire claims that the “huge” interest in football in India makes the deal a shrewd arrangement for Rangers.
“They sold the SPFL rights in India a while back,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams
“This is all part of globalisation and getting an understanding of how different organisations function.
“You can see that there are benefits for both parties in this. No money will change hands. It’s a knowledge transfer.
“Rangers are looking to expand their global appeal and influence. There is huge interest in India in football.
“With their success in Europe, this will help them get an understanding of whether there are business opportunities in India.”

Rangers finished 2nd in the Scottish Premiership in 2021-22 but won the Scottish Cup and reached the final of the Europa League.
They are due to travel to Portugal as part of their pre-season preparations for 2022-23.
