Rangers have suffered ‘big blow’ after Tom Lawrence latest – expert

Alan Hutton has claimed Tom Lawrence’s injury setback is a “big blow” for Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender said the 28-year-old will be “really frustrated” to spend more time on the sidelines.

As quoted by GlasgowLive (4 October), Giovanni van Bronckhorst said Lawrence faces months out after picking up a new injury.

He is unlikely to return to the side until after the World Cup.

The winger’s recovery from a knee injury sustained at the end of August was “on schedule” but he now faces more time in rehabilitation.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the news, Hutton said: “It is a real setback.

“It is a big blow for Rangers and for Tom himself. I think he was coming back in good time from his initial injury and he has picked up something else. It must be serious if they are talking months and not weeks.

Rangers

It is frustrating because you have done the hard work. You have been through the injury, you have fought your way back and you have done the hard graft. You then go back to square one. So he is probably feeling really frustrated but he is just going to have to take his time, there is nothing he can do about it now. The work starts over again.

I really feel for him because he was probably one of the signings that hit the ground running and was doing well and making a difference. Big blow but opportunity for someone else to step up.
