Rangers hold 'huge' advantage over Premier League clubs as Kent agreement secured - pundit
Rangers have a “huge” advantage over most English clubs as they can offer their players and potential signings Champions League football and trophies.
That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Ryan Kent‘s decision to remain at Ibrox for at least one more season.
Leeds United attempted to lure Kent, 24, away from Rangers last summer but were unsuccessful in their bid.
Kent has a gentleman’s agreement with the Glasgow giants and feels a certain degree of “loyalty” to his manager Steven Gerrard.
When asked if Champions League football is likely the main reason Kent wants to stay, Robinson told Football Insider:

“It is invaluable experience playing in the Champions League. Every player in that team will be itching to play in it next season.
“Rangers can offer their own players and potential signings Champions League football. That is something that a lot of English clubs cannot offer players.
“To have the opportunity to win the league, the domestic cups and play in the Champions League is a massive draw. There is only a handful of English clubs that can offer that. As much of a draw as the Premier League is, Rangers is becoming a huge draw.
“When I was playing I would have loved to have played for Rangers or Celtic. The fans, the Old Firm games, to win most weeks and challenge in the Champions League is a very attractive proposition.
“Then you throw a manager like Steven Gerrard into the mix, there is no point in leaving if you’re playing regularly. It’s no wonder Ryan Kent wants to stay.”
